Lunes is a universe we've developed for the card game and which we'll continue to develop beyond the card game, in various forms including a jdr, but also a digital storytelling tool..
L'univers
Changing and evolving according to an eternal cycle led by the Golden Moon, personification of the balance of the universe. She orchestrates the changes of reign between her two children, the Dark Moon and the Light Moon, whom she allows to dominate the world and its inhabitants.
The era described in the game is a time of change, as the Golden Moon rises and the Dark and Light Moons upset the balance, calling forth their agents for the former and their champions for the latter. They will spearhead the battle of the new age.
The world is animist, and everything is “spirit”, from rivers and winds to the weather itself. Animal spirits play a major role, close to humanity, and have always been strong intermediaries between shamans, kings and the lunar worlds. It's not only the powerful who are inspired, but more humble individuals change their behavior, led as they are by the whispers of the spirits. Even more frightening, the spirits rub off to the point of merging or transforming certain humans.
Most spirits are in the shadow of the two moons and are influenced by them, leaning one way or the other.
Shamanic magic is a global axiom, binding the earth and the living. Mortals evolve within this tradition and adhere to it. Sovereigns are at one with their lands and are imbued with this energy to such an extent that they evolve with the influence of the Moons. For mortals, every act is an interaction with the spirits, whether it's breathing, building a piece of furniture or waging war. From the humblest to the most powerful, mortals interact with them, through their dreams, rituals and prayers, in everyday life, temples, places of power or in the veil of madness. No action is insignificant.
Human mysticism stems from the relationship and affinity that a practitioner, a sensitive, a shaman or a madman may have with one or more spirits. Since spirits are the origin of the world and the parents of matter, they have the capacity to reshape it.
The rules
The rules are simple and narrative, leaving plenty of room for interpretation. All you need is a deck of cards, no need for paper or pencils, or even dice (sorry for the addicts out there). Players take on the role of champions of the clear moon, priestesses or knights.
Event cards and characters (PJs and NPCs) have a resolution and defense value.
Every player's action must be accompanied by an interpretation, an addition to the story, and every “event card played” must be described with a short story, answering the following questions: “Why is it part of the story? And in what way is it a block to reaching the King?”
PC determine the strategy to be followed to oppose the events (humans, monsters, magics and places of power) and complete the story by answering the question: “How should I resolve the situation?”
Life cards help to manage the randomness of a situation, as well as the notion of injury for our PJs. It is possible to draw a card, whose value will be added to the resolution to equal or exceed the defense of the target card.
Event cards have three states of health: fit, depleted and discarded.
On déroule le scénario, si les PC possèdent encore des dés-vie, ils peuvent poursuivre l'aventure. L'arrivée du roi sur la table annonce la fin de la partie. Vaincre ou If the PJs still have dice left, they can continue the adventure. The arrival of the king on the table signals the end of the game. Winning or losing against the king will determine success or defeat!
he game system is currently under development. Lunes is a narrative board game that makes no secret of its role-playing heritage. The intention is to bring it to life, to add content, and to invite you to contribute and share your hacks and scenarios on our website.
